Relaunch Rust Seebad/ Burgenland

2nd prize in the open, two-stage realisation competition

2021

Masterplan for the relaunch of the Seebad Rust on Neusiedler See for existing and new user groups as well as the joint continued development of the seaside resort area.
The entire lakeside resort area will be restructured in order to disentangle the main functions and strengthen their spatial independence. The focus is on the separation of boat traffic on the one hand and the bathing area on the other. The boats will be located to the north of the peninsula, the bathing area to the south, and the sailing school and ferry landing stage at the tip of the headland.
The aim of our design is to create a quality experience and a nature-related feel-good atmosphere for visitors, not only during the bathing season but in all seasons. To this end, a new pier promenade with a Skywalk above it will be built and equipped with numerous playful and entertaining, permanent and variable spatial elements. The Skywalk, a bridge along the promenade at a height of approx. 4 metres above ground level, offers a shady roof or rain protection for a walk in almost any weather. From the bridge - and this slight difference in height is enough - there is an unobstructed view of the unique lake landscape.
