For the long, narrow basement vault, a shelf was chosen to hold the exhibits. Since several of the models do not fit into the grid of the shelf, we developed larger spatial units whose forms do not follow orthogonal geometry but actually pierce through the grid. The resulting irregularities are joined with seemingly chaotic diagonals to create an overall structure that, although irregular, constitutes a stable loadbearing system.
