Loft 11 in Vienna’s 2nd district

Atelier

12/2009–10/2010

“Loft 11” is a conversion of a machine hall of an old brick factory into a studio for an artist. The hall in Vienna's 2nd district was insulated on the inside with Multipor mineral insulation boards so that the external appearance of the exposed brickwork could be preserved. The windows were replaced and the floor was rebuilt with a heated, wing-smoothed hard concrete screed. Necessary structural improvements such as the sanitary area, internal staircase, archive shelving and transport crane were arranged as minimalist objects on the periphery of the studio, so that the industrial, open character of the loft is retained or reinforced.
